Sydney is officially a solid food eater!! We went to the pediatrician on Tuesday for her 4 month checkup. She weighed in at 13 lbs, 4 ounces (still a peanut!) and is 25″ long. The doctor waited to give her shots since she was still sick - we go back on Wednesday. The doc said it was ok to start giving her solid foods and to start with rice cereal! So Tuesday afternoon we put together Sydney’s highchair and went for it!! We weren’t quite sure if she was ready for solids yet or how she’d react to them, but she was a pro!! She was opening her mouth like a little birdie! Every night since she’s had more rice cereal and done just as well! Next week we’ll introduce veggies! YUM! I have video too, but it is going to take me a little while to get it uploaded, so for now, some pics!

Check out my new highchair! Stylin, huh?! And Mmmm these straps are tasty!!

Mmmmm this stuff tastes better than it looks!!

Sunday we packed up the car and hit the road to come back to FL. The trip was interesting. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t exactly a picnic either! Sydney was REALLY good until we got to Georgia at which point she had a meltdown!
Anyway, the leaves were absolutely beautiful along the way. This picture was taken somewhere in NC. I miss seeing the leaves turn colors!

Picture Set #1: Sydney was a trooper in the car. She had a blast paying with her frog. And she slept… a LOT! (thank god!)
Picture Set #2: When we got home, there were 2 boxes waiting for Sydney at the door!! One was from Nanny & Pop (a Christmas present!!). The other was from Larry’s Aunt Dee! She had been reading about our impossible search for a warm coat for Sydney. She found the CUTEST coat and the most beautiful Christmas dress and had them sent to us!! I tried the coat on Sydney and it fits great - it will be perfect for the winter! Thanks Aunt Dee!!! (disclaimer on the pictures: she was tired and crabby after being in the car!!)

Man oh man, I have a TON of stuff to blog about! Are you ready to read?? We’re back from our trip and here are the highlights.
1) Sydney’s first visit to a hotel room!
We stopped decided not to drive all the way to Virginia going up last Tuesday. So we made it as far as Selma, NC and we stopped. (The Hoilday Inn Express there is quite nice!) It was actually nice to stop because we got to see the election results coming in! I’m a political junkie, so that made me happy

Sydney's first night in a big hotel bed!
2) Visit to Nana & Pop Pop’s House
Sydney loves to have time to hang out with her Nana & Pop Pop! We ran all over creation and back and saw lots of people. Sydney was just so good natured about it all!

Hello, here I am at Nana & Pop Pop's house!!
3) Got to see my Aunt Courtney (and Travis too!!)

Aunt Courtney thought it was pretty funny that Sydney was fussing!
4) Sydney got sick
Thursday night was the visitation for my grandma at the funeral home. We were dressed and ready to go and I thought ‘hey, Sydney feels pretty warm’. So we took her temperature and it was 102.5! ACK! So Larry stayed home with her while we went to the funeral home. Friday morning we got up and went to the funeral. (It was a nice day and the service was very nice. I have a lot of really great memories of my grandmother.) When we got home, Sydney’s temp still hadn’t gone down and she was pretty fussy, so I called the pediatrician. they told us to go get her looked at. So we spent 4 hours at Patient First. They did all sorts of tests on her (flu, strep, bloodwork, chest x-ray) and finally determined that she had a touch of pneumonia! FUN! She was SUCH a trooper at the doctors. She’s on antibiotics now and is on the mend. Her temp broke on Sunday and she’s definitely feeling better - just has a runny nose now!

Sydney was not sure about this whole doctor thing!!

Hey, I got a boo-boo!!

Ok, the poking is over! I'm happy now - can I please have a lollipop or a sticker or something?!
5) Nana got a cool high chair! Now Sydney can help cook too!

Sydney is hot stuff in her new seat!!
Ok so Sydney is currently exercising her lungs… more to this story but you’ll just have to stay tuned for Installment #2!! (today, I hope!)

Well, we’re heading to VA tomorrow at some point in the day (probably after work). My mom called a few hours ago to let us know that my grandma passed away today. She was 91 years old and boy did she live a good life. She was just a wonderful woman and I loved her dearly. I’m so sad that she’s gone, but know she is in a better place. I am really happy that she got to meet Sydney when we went home for the christening in August. We’ll be in VA through the weekend. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers and say a extra prayer to the travel gods that Sydney is a good passenger! 10 hours+ in the car is bound to be an adventure. Will report back when we can.
